MISG (Mathematics in Industry Study Group) 2024
MISG (Mathematics in Industry Study Group) 2024 is going to be hosted
by the Monash University School of Mathematics on Clayton Campus, Victoria (Feb 5-9). We would like to encourage students who otherwise would not have the means because they live outside of Victoria to consider attending. This year was a highly successful event and our work was highly valued by all our industry partners and the MISG is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in mathematics for industrial, real-world, applications.
To assist students who might not have access to the necessary funds to
attend MISG, the MISG committee will fund a limited number of rooms for the duration of MISG and give them eager students external to Victoria (to reduce the cost barrier in attending).
Eligibility is as follows: – Must be a postgraduate student in applied or industrial mathematics. – Must be based externally to Victoria (it is assumed that Victorians already have accommodation). – Must otherwise have the means to travel to Victoria for MISG (the funds only cover your accommodation and MISG will feed all participants) – Must be available and present for the whole duration of MISG.
If you are a student or know of a student in applied or industrial
mathematics who would benefit from and enjoy working on real-world industrial problems, to apply, the student needs to fill out the following google form: https://forms.gle/KiqUePFJgLmPg7o27
The committee will offer the accommodation funding based on merit and
will do so as the applications come in. Once the rooms have all been distributed, the offer will end.
